Gruden is rumored to be open to a coaching return.
Am I the only one salivating at all these moves? I know it won't happen but I'd love to have a Norv Turner here as an OC, even if Schwartz keeps his job. And can you imagine Ron Rivera as our DC?

I'd like to hope that Mayhew is doing his due diligence with some of these coaches who have just been fired.

There are rumors that We may be keeping Schwartz but dismissing mayhew, so he may not be looking at anything than over his shoulder until that is laid to rest.

Re: Black Monday - Coaching Carousel begins
Or it could be they're just taking their time. Teams don't need to give permission to interview coordinators but the information goes public, so if they've got their eye on people still playing, they might just keep it business as usual until all the season's end.

Re: Black Monday - Coaching Carousel begins
Am i the only person who wouldnt mind seeing whisenhunt come in at OC. He did well running the Steeler offense with Young Big Ben before he took over in AZ. I remember him being very creative since Pitt was alway run 1st before Whisen+Ben, but maybe I am mis-rembmering.

Now do you guys see why the coach should have absolutely NO SAY in WHICH players to draft (just player type)? How can you dismiss Mayhew when he just drafted whomever Schwartz told him to draft? It doesn't make any sense. You have to have separation of duties, and have to have defined roles, so you know who is accountable and who is doing right, and who is doing wrong.

Re: Black Monday - Coaching Carousel begins
I thought they generally discussed and came to a consensus but Mayhew made the final calls for draft day.

Allegedly (according to articles and "insiders" on here), Schwartz made the call to trade up to get Best (and Schwartz's reaction and excitement suggested the same), as well as the call to draft Titus, Suh, Fairly and LeShoure too. He was essentially the GM and coach, and most people on here thought that's how it should be. I contend that very few organizations are ran that way, and it only works where there is exceptional talent (allegedly Billicheck is very influential in the draft). It didn't even really work with Holmgren, and he's twice the coach, and football mind that Schwartz is.
