 Re: Off-Season Moves
was he already not on a team? I thought they couldnt sign until the league year begins? Or is it a "done deal" but not inked until March 13?

He should be getting a contract in the 6th-12th range of QBs (at best), not comparing to the SuperBowl MVP who is asking for the biggest QB contract in the NFL. I wasn't meaning to imply that Stafford would get what Flacco will get. But, Flaccos deal is going to set the standard for QB Contracts. And it would be in Staffords best interest to wait until Flaccos deal is done.

Just out of curiousity, how much will Mike Wallace get on the open market?

I don't know if Wallace got hurt last year or what, but I never seemed to hear about him. He is only 26/27 so he is still going to be able to get better. I would love to have him, but we are going to be bargain shopping again this year.

 Re: Off-Season Moves
He should get near top tier money, probably $8.5M-$10M per year. He may not get Vincent Jackson money because he had a poor season coming off the holdout. He'll basically get WR1 money from whoever signs him, so he'll be priced out of the Lions range. He's the type of WR they need as a WR2, but they need to find a guy that hasn't already put up big seasons or they need to find a rookie in the draft.

Because our Cap situation is no where near as dire as someone on this site would have you believe. Add to that, that some of our young backup players from the last couple of years, might just be ready to step up to a starter role. And the whole team is not in as dire straights as has been argued that it is.

Dom supposedly taking the vet min contract saving us $3M in cap space. Fantastic. Now, if we draft Joeckel/Fisher and release/restructure Backus we'll be paying for a possibly even better offensive line for maybe $14 million a year compared to the $25 million that would've been spent with the original. The time to restructure Stafford's contract and backload a bunch of money in the first year is NOW.
