Post Cheerios to the colts
http://nfltraderumors.co/report-colts-r ... -cherilus/

Daniel Jeremiah of the NFL Network reports that the Colts have reached an agreement in principle with former Lions OT Gosder Cherilus.
Cherilus is actually coming off of a solid season for the Lions, but wound up undergoing an operation on his knee.
The Colts had to find help at offensive tackle and this is probably a decent move on their part. They could still use some additional help at guard, so we’ll see if they plan to address that in free agency or target a player in the draft.
We have him listed as the No. 31 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.

Looks like an unproven ragtag assortment on the right side now with holes at RG and RT

i think it has more to do with playing time than the amount of money on the deal signed

- anyone know how much we paid Levy?

Yeah it's some secret formula that the NFL doesn't release, but with Gosder he is going to be the starter so playing time is irrelevant as long as he doesn't get hurt.

I don't think Levy's contract details have been released yet.

I really don't think all of the hype and love that guy got was justified. He seemed about as smart as a screen door on a battleship (B2tF reference), and he seemed to commit more than his fair share of penalties. Someone posted on the "main" site that he only had 3 false start penalties in 2 years, but it sure seems like more than that.

Im fine with it. Woulda been Ok at best to have him back, and only for a reasonable price. Singing him to something big would have been dangerous and with the knee work done, im ok letting his 2nd K be with someone else. Plus itpaves the way for Reiff at RT/RG (based on competition with fox and hilliard) and a drafting of Joekel/Fosher.

Now we'll be able to say how Mayhew has done bringing in O-line guys.

I almost couldn't even care less about losing the dude. Replacing him could be an issue but if we are able to land one of the top OT's, we should be ok.

Gosder Cherilus' 5-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts is worth $34 million and includes a $10 million signing bonus, according to Aaron Wilson of Fox Sports.

For perspective, the 2013 cap numbers of Jason Fox, Corey Hilliard and Riley Reiff are $4.12 million combined.

Good non-signing by the Lions.

I dont get the Donald Thomas love on this site. He s an okay backup, thats about it. The Lions had him in 2010 and he didnt play in any games and they brought him back in training camp 2011 but he didnt make the team...

To me, this is a classic case of an agent having the ability to blow sunshine up a GM's arse.

If Gos was so great, the Lions would have found a way to keep him. I'm guessing the signing bonus is going to be the last big payday he gets, as I don't think his knees are going to hold up for much longer.
