The wait is over. Indeed, the Colts have added a wide receiver.
The club has agreed to terms with ex-Raiders wideout Darrius Heyward-Bey, the team said Monday night. Owner Jim Irsay, who had made no secret that the club had zeroed in on a wideout, linked to the announcement on Twitter.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Heyward-Bey’s deal is for one year and as much as $3 million.
The 26-year-old Heyward-Bey caught 41 passes for 606 yards and five TDs for Oakland in 2012. He could help the Colts replace Donnie Avery, who signed with Kansas City in free agency. Heyward-Bey, who has gained 14.8 yards per catch in his four-year NFL career, was released earlier in the offseason.
Heyward-Bey is the latest addition to an Indianapolis free-agent class that Irsay already liked quite a bit.

He's a Dumba$$!! He passed on being a #2 with us behind a Pro Bowler like Mega to settle for a #3 spot or worse #4 spot behind Brazill. I hope the butter on his fingers continue to sweat through his pores.

Well, I don't know if flourish is the word I'd use, but Nate had more receptions in 2 1/2 years here than he did with his stint in minny and Seattle. And that's kinda the point. Anyone who lines up opposit of Calvin is going to see a bump in stats if they have any skill at all. DHB missed an opportuninty to see single coverage almost all season. He's not going to get that same advantage with the colts. He would have been wiser to sign a 2 year deal with us, get his bump in stats and sign a bigger deal after that.

I don't think I agree with that. Nate's career, despite being over-paid here, hasn't "flourished" here. He catches a bunch of short garbage passes, and our offense is a wreck. Apparently the whole show is predicated on a pass catching RB, and we throw a lot more to our RBs and TEs than we do to our #2. Our #2 WR seems to be more of an afterthought. Further, IMO the Colts are much more playoff ready, and DHB isn't exactly going to always be doubled in Indy. IMO Luck is a better Qb, and that's a much more important indicator of "success" for a WR than anything else.
