 Barry Sanders Madden cover
Well two years in a row a Lion will grace the cover of Madden, although CJ shattered any notion of the curse affecting a player it seems our team fell for it. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100000 ... dden-cover

Oh great now Barry is gonna get the curse, I bet he doesn't even get 50 yards this year! Seriously though I'm glad to see him on the cover.

 Re: Barry Sanders Madden cover
fitting, 24 years ago I was wrapping up a degree from MSU when Madden first came out. An OT from State was taken by the Pack #2 overall (thank you GB) after Troy Aikman went #1 overall to the Boys. With the 3rd pick in the draft, the Detroit Lions select Barry Sanders, running back, Oklahoma State... I still remember his first carry in a Lions uniform, you just knew...
Congrats Barry!

 Re: Barry Sanders Madden cover
Yeah, Pretty awesome to see his relevance and respect even now. He took down AP who gave him great congrats , and went through Montana and Rice on the Legends side. He is still the best RB in the History of the NFL imho.... NOBODY did it like Barry.

The best part of all of this for me is that I have gotten a chance to see more of Barry's personality. I was too young to follow him as a person during his career.
He seems like a great guy. His playing days speak for themselves.

Had to buy the CJ one and now I've gotta buy the Barry one. Madden knows how to empty my wallet.

 Re: Barry Sanders Madden cover
Wow! Who'd'a thunk a team that has never reached the SuperBowl could make the Madden cover two years in a row. It raises the Lions profile a little bit. Barry deserves the recognition.

 Re: Barry Sanders Madden cover
First. He was going to be on the cover in 99 when he retired, and he was sorta in the background on the very first console version. This is his first actual cover.

He seems like a great guy. His playing days speak for themselves. I think its very strange that Barry is showing his face in public so much. Im not sure whats going on with him but it seems like he misses the spotlight. This from a player that was always perceived as humble but behind the scenes wasnt happy with front office moves, coaching changes, no showed minicamps, demonstrated no leadership, etc. I think there is a lot more to Barry's personality than fans really know.

I think he just has more time on his hands. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but didn't he just get a divorce a year or two ago? Throw in his kid is in college. He has more spare time. I don't think he is pursuing any limlight, he is just finally saying yes more when the limlight comes to him.

 Re: Barry Sanders Madden cover
With his kid playing in college it can't hurt to put your name out there and make sure people have you on the mind when your son is trying to make a career.
