Post Re: GAME DAY THREAD: Vikings @ Lions
I sure wish we hadn't over-payed for Reggie Bush. This front office sure botched that signing.

It was good to see Stafford actually stepping into his throws and trying to spread it around. Too bad the team still has a little bit of the dropsies, but Fauria looked to have good hands and everyone started to look better towards the end of the game.

It was good to see Martin recompose himself and get better with his punts as the game went on. He could have easily have just phoned it in after the botched hold and the shanks he had on his early punts.

Reiff held his own pretty damn well considering Allen has consistently owned Backus since he got to Minny. Even the interior held up pretty well, though Minny was missing their best DT.

I hope the LBs can keep this up. Levy was actually making some plays at the line and wasn't just getting bullied for extra yardage every time he got in on a tackle.

This game really ended up being almost a best case scenario with them getting good to great play from virtually every position even with all the early miss cues.

The OL played a very solid game. Reiff looked good. I've got some crow for anyone who finds wjb.

Fox hurt after the first series? This is exactly why I had zero hope for this guy. He looked good in the first series, but what a freaking vagina. At least Hilliard looked solid after spelling him. I'd rather see waddle take reps. I'd love to see waddle at OC if he could handle it. Either way, warford looked decent and raiola was again, the weak link in the run game.

Minny has good depth along the DL. Just because they were missing Williams doesn't mean much. Floyd is a beast and could have gone #1 overall last year. OL needs to do a better job making throwing lanes for stafford. I counted 4 batted balls and 6 drops. That is absolutely unacceptable

Anyone else think sims is regressing in his play? Need to be looking for OC, OG, and possibly RT next offseason. OC is immediate, OG to upgrade and RT could be an upgrade simply because Hilliard is average at best and fox is a complete wiener.

Mea culpa: You guys were totally right about Fox. Oh well, at least Hilliard got a ton of playing time in the PS and Waddle is up and coming.

I didn't focus on him, but there were a couple times where Warford seemed to have some really good blocks.

Fox had a groin injury which isn't anything close to the knee or foot problems he's had in the past. Bush dislocated his thumb and had a groin pull, but he still played and excelled. Waddle was inactive this week, but I'd expect to see him active next week depending on the severity of Fox's groin.

Warford will do fine. He'll have some rough spots, but I think all the playing time in the preseason was the best thing for him. He needed reps.

And let's give some credit to Nate. Had a rough preseason but had a really nice game today.

Agreed, Nate had a decent game today. As well as his play, he is providing some good veteran leadership to the younger WR's we have.

The loss of Williams was a big deal for the Vikes. Floyd played better in his final college season than the previous year he was never going to go 1st overall. He's got incredibly short arms and it very much remains to be seen if he can have as much of an impact against NFL interior lineman. Don't forget he also sustained a knee injury in the preseason and may still have been a little gimpy. I'm not saying that Minny was terrible, only that the interior guys had it a little easier than the would normally see from a normally better than average Dline.

I would say no to Waddle at OC, 6'6" is just way to tall for a center with a 6'2" QB. I really want to see him get sometime at RT in a real game or if something happens to Reiff I hope he gets the start on the Left.

Wow, they ruled that a fumble, wtf. You always go with the td on something that close. That broke the plane

Too bad wjb isn't around to eat his crow...Reiff is looking pretty damn good

Yeah. Only 1 sack that was on him in his 1st game at LT against Jared Allen. Not too bad at all.

Why do we always have to make things so hard on ourselves? With the way the O has been moving the ball we should be running away with this thing. Just wait til we play a team like the Packers who will capitalize on these mistakes.

You know, we had problems in the redzone last year also. Maybe when we get to the 25 yardline, we should just start taking shots into the endzone and avoid the redzone all together.

like when he totally whiffed and gave up a kill shot to Stafford s ribs?

1 bad play against JARED ALLEN in his first game at LT. You had to expect Allen to get at least 1 good shot on Stafford going against the equivalent of a rookie.

To those in the chat, sorry for the language. The turnover really was the last straw as I thought it would'nt end for the whole game. I had to go and had to drop one before leaving after the miscues.

Man oh man is this going to be an exciting year. We held AP to 13 yards on 17 carries after his first huge run. That is a great accomplishment for this defense. This team is much better than I've seen it in a long time. The offensive line looks pretty good, the offense will be a mismatch against any defense, and the defense isn't a liability any more. Levy, my breakout prediction this year, looks very good, Tulloch is fairly solid, Slay/Houston/Bentley/Quin/Delmas is a fine secondary and we have the best defensive line in the world right now.

Go Lions

Go figure, Levy in a contract year and he finally learned how to be a LBer.
As for the rest of team, I had to pray for forgiveness from GOD because the Lions made me drop a few 4 letter words. They should have demolished the Vikings. That was a horrible 1st half that the old Lions would have caved in and given up from. But, credit this team for pulling their collective heads out of their collective rectums.

Levy just got a new three-year contract. Maybe some validation for the front office for extending him.

Yup. I judge Mayhew here and there but really liked the re-signing. He's a bright LB and I think he'll surpass Tulloch very soon. There really isn't a weakness on the defense anymore except for the occasional mistakes Slay will make and Houston's meh games. Delmas and Quin need to shake the rust off and we'll be set.

And Ashlee Palmer. Below average. Saw him get washed out on blocks far, far too often today. Just wait until we play GB and he has to cover finley
