Former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Stevenson Sylvester worked out for the Detroit Lions today, according to a league source.
The Lions also worked out former Carolina Panthers linebackers Jason Williams and Doug Hogue, according to sources.
Hogue is a former Lions fifth-round draft pick from Syracuse. Williams is a former Dallas Cowboys third-round draft pick who has also played for Carolina.
Sylvester, 25, was cut by the Steelers during the preseason.
A former Steelers fifth-round draft pick from Utah, where he was an all-conference selection, Sylvester is a speedy 6-foot-2, 230-pounder. Did one of our LBers get hurt?

Like that they might bring Hogue back. I think he was a victim of the numbers game last year; it would be nice to see him continue to develop.

They ran some 4 LB sets against Minny and it was Rocky that came in every time as the 4th man. Maybe they just realized they lack any real depth at the position and are continuing to see if they can improve it along with having a couple options for replacements if an injury does happen.

It's not uncommon for the Lions to carry seven LBs on the roster. Right now they have six. I have no idea who they would choose to release, but I have a feeling it would likely be one of the safeties. It may be that they just want some extra speed or muscle on the special teams.
