Harry Reid invokes the Nuclear Option
For 224 years since the ratification of the US Constitution, the Senate rules regarding appointments have remained the same. However, a political hack (Majority Leader Reid) has changed that. NOW, only a simple majority is required to confirm Presidential nominees to the court or high-level Administrative positions.
Unfortunately, the vast majority of the American people are too stupid to realize the importance or significance of my previous paragraph. Do they even know what a paragraph is? But I digress.
Any hope for bi-partisanship is now over. It's we won-you lost from here on out. The majority party will have complete control of the Senate from now until eternity. But that wasn't it's intended purpose when it was created under the Constitution.
For those that didn't know, the House of Representatives were to represent the PEOPLE, while the Senate were to represent the individual STATES. The 17th Amendment changed all that. It allowed the PEOPLE to directly elect their Senators instead of the state legislatures.
This happened under he "Progressive" Woodrow Wilson. If you ever wondered when State Rights and the 10th Amendment went out the window, there you go.
Now, we have near total government control over everything. Wake the F Up America.

You mean the same media that fails to report on the "knockout" game? I ought to start a new thread on that one, but why bother? Libtard scum like Wags won't post on the subject, like this one, because they can't possibly defend it.

Re: Harry Reid invokes the Nuclear Option
It's the chicken/egg game of politics. They're trying to force blame, but failing to realize that most people can see the cause and effects. The filibuster use went up because the ability to amend the bills was removed. When the ability to adjust the bills is removed, the only option is to shut them down until they are negotiated.
In the past we had a thing called political capital. Both sides understood that power swung both ways from time to time. You don't cross certain lines because when it was your turn in the minority, you need the ability to be able to work across the isle. Under Bush, the republicans pushed a little hard, the deme pushed back even harder when they took power and then when Obama came into office and passed healthcare without a single R vote, it killed all remaining ability to negotiate. Then the R's took power and the D's are going to try to pass blame for not negotiating. Until a side decides to stop holding a grudge and actually work together on something or anything, no capital can be gained politically. And until then there will be gridlock.
And while the above sounds ridiculous, this is why divided government works. When one side tries to push through too much, the other side has the ability to stop it. The only way it works fluidly, is if both sides work together. You can blame one side or the other, but it's working exactly as it was intended.

Re: Harry Reid invokes the Nuclear Option
Njroar, I understand what you're saying, but that time has come and gone. The libtards have been moving the goalposts to the left for the past 100 years to the point that America is almost unrecognizable. Unfortunately, the Democrats aren't even the least bit interested in moving the goalposts back toward the right or even to keep them where they are. Under Obama, they've gone for a complete power grab and have no intention of relenting. There is nothing to negotiate. There is nothing to compromise. They want what they want and damn anyone who stands in their way. Reid's Nuclear Option is just one of many examples of this.
