Somebody else understands the need for a QB, thanks Billy!

I don't look at it so much as competition for Stafford. Hill is too expensive for maybe getting a few snaps from him each year now that Stafford can survive a season. I am not sure what I think of Moore yet. So, I am thinking we should trade Hill for maybe a 5th round pick and draft a QB and let him and Moore battle for 2nd string.

Hill is a FA and won't be re-signed he simply can get more money than the Lions can afford to give him from another team. As far as drafting a QB it is a must because Moore just isn't a viable option as a legit backup. I'm interested to see how Keith Wenning plays in today's Shrine game, but I wouldn't t mind McCarron in the 4th-6th round range.

so I dont follow college ball neary enough to play this game, but for some odd reason I keep comming to this thread and seeing what you guys get. I have come to one conclusion...we apearantly NEED Sammy Watkins! lol

He is in a TON of your drafts. (he seems to have landed in just about everyones draft at one point or another...in most cases mulitple times)

It's just wishful drafting. He's often there when I play the game, but in reality he's probably a top fiver and will be long gone when Lions are on the clock.

He is usually the top rated player available when the 10th pick comes along. I always try to go defense in the 1st round because WR's are deep this year and the kid from Penn ST is always there in the 2nd round as is Kelvin Benjamin. ( His nickname is Kelvetron).

Problem with my strategy? I absolutely hate drafting a LBer in the 1st round. ( You rarely ever get 1st round value out of them.) And I don't see any sure fire guaranteed shut down CB's in this draft.
There is 1 defensive player, that if he is still on the board at pick #5, I would consider trading up to get him. But, that is only because Clowney, added to the rest of our D-line, is a game changer. It launches our D-line into the stratosphere.

There are a couple of good Safeties. But, I kind of view them as average and nothing to get too excited about.

I'm not really interested in a DT this year, it would basically be a wasted pick.

That leaves DE: You have Clowney and a huge gap until the next guy OMHO.

The strength of this draft is most definitely on the offensive side of the ball.

QB, WR, OT are deep, deep, deep.

So, probably, my early best case draft for us would be:

1st round: Sammy Watkins
2nd round: Swanson The Center from Arkansas
3rd round: CJ Fidorowitz the TE from Iowa ( Pat Kirwan has called him the next Gronk.)
4th round: Anthony Steen the OG from Alabama or possibly his QB, AJ McCarron

My first round mock on Walter Football. They have a mock draft builder that is pretty good. First round only.
