Post Miggy is a Tiger forever!
The Tigers just announced tha Cabrrera jus signed a 10 year extension for around $300mil. It's less than Clayton Kershaw's $30.7mil per year but Miggy said he would have taken less to remain a Tiger. Extension talks reportedly did not start until after the Scherzer talks shut down. It appears the Tigs offered and Miggy said Hell Yes! If Max would wake the f@#$ up and ditch Boras he may realize that the offer Detroit made was incredable for a pitcher that was good and just had 1 stellar year. There is no guarantee that he will even get 10 wins this year or even make it out of camp next year. Turning down $24 mil per year is absolutely foolish. That is like winning the Power Ball and throwing away the ticket because the amount wasn't enough. He says he loves Detroit and their fans. Fans that can't afford to go to the games or even feed their families. Let him play this year for what he is signed for. If he pitches 1 or 2 no-hitters and wins a 2nd Cy Young then pay him 30mil. If he sucks, waive his rectum and spend the money on young prospects.

That is insane for a player in his 30's. He had a contract for two more years and is coming off back to back MVPs. Tigers are stupid for not waiting at least a year and getting good value out of his current deal as he wasn't going anywhere soon. Let's go ask the Angels how the 10-year deal for Pujols is working out so far. Actually, I get why they offered him the contract - to lure him away from STL. Who were the Tigers competing with for Cabrera's services?

Let's see, Miggy and JV will now cost darn close to $60M per season between them. That's 2 players - WOW! At least the two have brought us multiple WS titles already, oh wait...

Relax. It's not like baseball has, or ever will have, a salary cap. The big market teams in baseball, IE, the Yankees and Red Sox will never let it happen.

Getting good value out of his current deal? It was an extension, his salary for the next 2 years stays what it was under the original deal as far as I'm aware.
