Post The Noah movie.
I have not seen it yet. I will at some point. Just don't expect the movie to be at all biblical. Here is a review of the movie.

I really like Darren Aronofsky's stuff. Requiem for a Dream is the greatest movie I will never watch again.

From what I understand this movie is a HUGE environmental activism movie, with vague references to a "creator" and Noah didn't have visions but hallucination's that enabled him to create the ark.

But according to the previews it looks like it will be very entertaining, but not in keeping with the Biblical story, which of course was only a regional flood anyway right?

The movie has been ripped to shreds by Christians and Muslims (yes, the story of Noah is also in the Quran for those who have never read it) who haven't seen it yet. LOL. Similar reaction many of these groups had to the Harry Potter movies when they first came out (maybe it's just Emma Watson).

If the movie would have faithfully followed the story, it wouldn't have translated well to the big screen. Also remember, the story of the flood isn't uniquely Biblical but rather taken from many earlier belief systems, so perhaps this adaptation is closer to the original flood stories - although I doubt it.

All that said, based on how most people think of the flood story from a Jewish perspective I'm surprised there wasn't more of a God element in the movie.

BTW - any pub is good pub. $44M opening weekend...

I have no interest in seeing this movie!

Used to LOVE Russel Crowe...Now I think he's an asshat.

For those clammoring about it's "ethnic backround" (for lack of a better term). Every religeon in the area had a noah's ark story. Every. Single. One. (thats why I believe there is some fact to the fiction there).
Just cuz it's also in the old testament, does not make it is exclusively Christian. (need I remind you all that MOST of the old testament is a gathering of verbal folklore told for hundreds....if not thousands of years...not exactly what you'd call an accurate way to record history)

besides that, from every preview I saw, this movie just looks like an excuse for someone to build a giant wooden fort (the Ark) and then throw some CGI at it. Im sorry but is there really 2 hours worth of story telling in the Noah's Ark story?

I'll see it this week and let you know.

I think anyone looking for a Christian story has the wrong expectation.

Aronofsky's movies are all dark, sort of artsy psychological thrillers (Pi, Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain, Black Swan, The Wrestler). I'm guessing this will be do no different.

all i know is they actually built that wooden mostrosity (when most of the previews show enormous ammounts of CGI, I really dont understand why they did though) and Crowe has been tweeting the Pope to watch the movie...like A LOT.
