Sorry LF57the were not aimed at you avatar... just wondering if mgt had a chance to tinker with the board to get it to fit the screen to eliminate the scrolling.

Thanks for the help. I have the same problem, 800-600 thanks for some of the suggestions Somebody else had the problem JL this is how they fixed it Quote: I figured it out. My monitors home PC, laptop, and office are set to a resolution of 800x600. I tried changing the home PC to the next highest setting 1024x768 and then the forums and threads fit the screen without having to scroll left and right.
Unfortunately at a higher resolution the type becomes pretty small. I guess getting older does that to you eyesight.

Old School (and Alpha),
I've had this same problem since I joined a year ago.
FINALLY - now since the forum was down over the weekend it has now fixed itself.
Alpha I don't know what you did (you probably don't know either ) but thank you!! Everything fits on my screen now and I don't need to scroll back and forth.

Could be that you have a reasonably sized avatar for once

Very Funny!
But whatever has gone on the last day or so - the margins are messed up again.
Is it me and Old School are the only guys having this issue?

You guys are not alone. The forum used to fit my screen with no problems, but suddenly it seemded to grow without any changes on my part. Now I have to scroll left to right constanly. It's a real pain in the arse.

Once I can make sure that the updated forum is completely running smooth I have additional code to help with the sizing issue.
Some factors though is that many people are using huge urls in their posts. It would help if people used the url feature though like so:
Code: Click Here For Lions Info
Lions Info
The other issue is avatars. We can enforces sizes except for outside linked avatars. I am working on code that resizes them automatically though so that should help a lot.

I just resized LF57's avatar. If that helps at all let me know. I am not picking on LF57 I just want to see if it helps out.
When we do go with a board enforced standard it will be at most 120X120 Pixels.

From my past experience at another site, I found that most of the trouble with the screen width was caused by the image signatures. They may appear to fit nicely on the screen, but they actually expand the width beyond their actual size. This isn't the case with all of them, but I was never able to determine why it happened with some, but not others.

The avavtar I'm using is the same one (and size) that I've used for over a week an it suddenly worked great the other day and now not at all. Maybe this helps you... When it started to go bad agian it started a thread at a time. Some were fine some were not. Now they're all bad for me. BTW, I now keep all my avatars to 200 pixels (jpg) or less in width. ALSO, this is back again. Quote: Could not connect to smtp host : 0 : The operation completed successfully.

I bought a new monitor. Uprgraded to a 19" flat screen. Then I changed the resolution so now all is fine.
The larger screen allowed the page to fit at the higher resolution but allow me to comfortably read the text.
But for those with a smaller monitor they will have the scrollbar issue unless the message board margins are adjusted.. Or they change their resolution but will have to look at tiny text size.
Rock On !
