Question for everyone. Bears pick at #4. Will they take a WR or a RB?
I think they'll take Williams to pair up with Muhammad which should definately open up the run game for Jones. I think that would be more effective than taking a RB (Benson). Or do they take the proven ground pounder?
Thoughts?

They have Mushin...I think the need to balance that out with a top notch RB. There are some damn good RBs in this early part but they have also gotten scorched taking them in the past.

Well, they haven't drafted particularly well with WR as of late either...It's kind of a toss up as with most teams in the draft. This draft is tough.
By the way, mlive forum really sucks. People on there are just stupid. Good thing this one isn't like that and the people here are actually somewhat knowledgable and respectful.

And you're right...it is a total coin flip between receivers and RBs. But had Willis McGahee been healty the Lions would have taken him no question over Charles Rogers. I think the impact RB is more important to a team than 1 of several receivers.
And I am glad you like it here

With McDougle a FA and Backus as FA next year, I'm thinking more and more about Barron if the Lions stay at the #10 spot. Looks to be a combo of need and best player available for the Lions there.
I think the Bears are pretty happy with T. Jones right now. If I was the GM in Chicago, I would certainly look at getting one of the three franchise RBs but my gut is telling me they won't go in that direction right now.

I guess I just don't see the value in taking an OT that high in the draft. I think anyone with a 10 pick should be a playmaker, offensive or defensive. OL is more a developmental position and this draft has some super solid OL (Barron, Khalif Barnes, Jammal Brown, Baas, Elton Brown, Chris Colmer are all sure first first/second rounders). However, our NEED is definately OL.
Is Barron really that good, is he comparable to Robert Gallery? I think Khalif Barnes may be better than Barron if he were to pack on about 15 pounds of muscle.
But do we take need over value at the spot if someone like DJ, Rolle, or even one of the two wideouts is still there? I'm sure a trade would be lingering if that's the case, but would we take em if not trade were to happen?

I agree conversion but if those playmakers are all gone where do you go? I would take DJ in a heart beat but after that it gets murky. Do we want 3 high priced receivers? Do we want 3 high priced CBs? I personally would be ok with a receiver as well because of Charles Rodgers being so fragile. It seems like the one position to have 3 really good ones is only going to help where as at CB it is almost a waste.
But I am thinking that a guy or two we do not expect will drop to us...that is exciting

Pac-Man Jones question.
I've seen him falling in many mocks as of late. It's a toss up between him and Carlos Rogers IMO. Is he falling because he didn't run at the combine? Rogers ran a 4.35.
Fabian Washington, Nebraska 5'10.4'' 188 lbs 4.25 40 18 reps. That'll shoot him up the boards to round one.
Alpha...good point

I don't think Johnson even comes close to falling into our laps. He will certainly be picked 3-8.
Neither will Rolle. Teams 6-9 need CBs. Pac-Man will probably go in that range as well.
As for WRs... Mike Williams has been promised that he isn't going past #5 overall (Tampa is in love with him, and was last year as well). Braylon, it's debatable, but I think he could go #1 overall, or #4 overall. He may even fall to 6 or 7, but I doubt it. He's a wildcard.
The top 3 RBs will likely be gone as well. Miami, Chicago (?), Tampa, Minnesota (?) and Arizona need RBs. One may fall, though.
Anyway, I don't see Rolle, Jones, Johnson, Williams, or Edwards being there when we pick.
Look for a new mock draft soon

The cards didn't make the trade for Bills RB Travis Henry for LJ Shelton did they?
I haven't seen anything anywhere to confirm a trade happened but I was seeing quite a bit of rumors for awhile.

Arizona has basically given up on the trade...
Henry wants a contract extention now, but the Cardinals don't want to give it to him without him proving that he is worth it (near the end of the season).
It's also rumored that the Bills wanted Shelton and a draft pick... Denny doesn't want to give up his draft picks.
