 Matt Jone the big kid from Arkansas Hello fellow Lions fans. There has been alot of talk about the big, fast kid Matt Jones from Arkansas. He played QB but will now be a WR in the NFL. 6"6 242 with great hands. Experts say he is the best althlete they have seen in a long time and dont expect him to be drafted until day 3. Would this be a great #3 for us and really help us out in the RED Zone?

My opinion on Jones...
Jones is extremely fast...and tall. He could be a great #3, but I have yet to be shown his hands. I would have to see some production from him at WR before I draft with a 2nd rounder (he's slated to go late first at the earliest, but will likely be snatched up in the 2nd). He's a great athlete.

Jones does indeed look like a great athlete and interesting prospect but the latest Ive heard is that he has crept as high as late first round.

It does seem Jones is 25-40 material. Still at that range you are giving up the chance to get a great athlete who is not a project. I would not mind taking him at 41, but even that is pretty darn high.

I got to watch some of Jones back when they had those college scrimmages going on after the season and he was catching every pass within his reach.
He sure looked like to me that he has good hands. If he is available I'd like to see us pick him up and give him a shot.
