This was reported in the Chicago Sun-Times

Detroit, oddly enough, also will bring in Mike Williams for a visit. The Lions pick 10th in the draft and have selected a wide receiver with their top pick in each of the last two drafts. Roy Williams had a great rookie season last year, but Charles Rogers has been injured two consecutive years. Could Rogers be done?

Rogers isn't done, but he'll be shy about crossing the middle anytime soon IMO. I would take Williams over Edwards any day. Williams seems to be more consistant and is bigger - could be the next Moss.

 Millen said the other day that Rogers was looking more mature, thicker in the neck, turning into a man. He also said his rehab has been coming along nicely. If I could remember I would give you a link, but I don't, you know, that Alzhymers thing. :-k

The question is how does Mike Williams get past the Vikings in the draft?

Or, how does he get past Cleveland, Chicago, Tampa Bay, and Tennessee to get to Minnesota.

I just don't think there will be a receiver there at #7 for the Vikings to select. They will need to trade up to get one, or select Derrick Johnson, and ruin our dreams.

Lions | Project USC's Williams as Tight End - from www.KFFL.com
Fri, 8 Apr 2005 14:02:50 -0700

John Czarnecki, of FOXSports.com, reports the Detroit Lions are apparently projecting USC WR Mike Williams as a tight end in the NFL. Some personnel people believe that Williams will be a 245-250-pound player in the league and that he doesn't have the quickness to be a wide receiver.

That's what I've been hoping for! I would love to have him as a TE or a slot guy on the Lions. He could be a beast.

I agree that Williams could be a TE.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves though. Before he puts on the weight he may be valuable as a pass catcher. But when he does bulk up he needs to develop the blocking skills required of the position. But I do think its doable.

How about this? If Clarett falls out of the draft or to round #7 should the Lions consider him for a fullback position? We know that he can run, "catch and block".

Just a thought.

I dunno...anything involving Clarett is a tough call and all based on personal choice. I think we have good runners who can catch and block (Bryson) who could be converted. I would rather have us take a true FB rather than convert one because you'll never know what you're going to get.

I think Clarett could turn out to be a solid 1000 yard back. But not here. He's a better fit for the Raiders. He may not be as fast as he was, but there's no denying his game film from his OSU days were pretty impressive. He'll be back to that form soon.

I wouldn't mind seeing the lions take a big WR and try to convert him into a TE (especially this draft) I would think Vincent Jackson and and Larry Brackens would be there on the second day and could be TE projects with lots of upside to them. :D

Detroit isn't know to take "projects" though... rather polished players.

They already have Pollard to start for them this season. I don't know that this draft has many polished TE's in it. It's probably just that I'm a sucker for the bargin sleeper and I thought one of those guys could turn out very nicely down the road.

i did not read the what everone write.

But if the lions draft Mike i would laugh my rectum off

Even though with all three of them Joey would look like Manning

But the different is the WR would being making the QB look sweet not the other way around.

People say Manning only so good because all his good WR
Let look at some State before and after manning:

Marvin:
Before manning: never broken 900 yard and never had more then 8TD
After Manning: Never had less then 1200 yards and never less then 10 TD

Wayne: can't do only been in NFL for four year all with Manning

Brandon:
Before Manning: never broken 400 yard and never more then 2 TD
After Manning: Never had less then 1000 Yard and never less then 10 TD

I Call it the 'Manning Effect'
