 Rick Gosselin's Mock Draft
The Goose writes for the Dallas Morning News and has had the most accurate mock draft the past four years or so I believe. He is a HOF writer (went in with Barry's class). He is also a grad of MSU and follows the Lions pretty closely. Every year I look at his mock and have a number of "no way" reactions, and every year he has the most accurate mock draft in the country when all is said and done.... Be prepared for plenty of moments because he doens't follow the pack or conventional wisdom for that matter.

You don't know how much it means to me that the Goose says we are getting DJ.
Now the Vikings getting Mark Clayton and Mike WIlliams? Wow.

Did he predict the Lions trading down last year and getting KJ-LOL. Goose is very good. It looks good to me. The wow is Mike Williams dropping and Williamson leaping him. You know, I could see that.

HB, obviously Goose did not calculate Millen moving up again and grabbing Miller after trading down with Dallas to get DJ!

As long as Goose is right about the Lions picking Johnson at # 10 - I don't care about the rest.

I know this guy has a great prediction record and I know he is extremely knowledgeable about the draft, but I think he's off his rocker if he thinks Demarcus Ware will be drafted before Merriman. That's insane.

Seems off to me too... Anyone have his mock from the last couple years to verify his accuracy?

I never got into the Merriman hype. Wasn't he third rounder 6 weeks ago?

I am a little skeptical about your man's draft Pablo.... This isnt another April Fools Joke is it? I trust your opinions but If the Vikes picked two Wide out s in the first I dont like the order. The Browns pick a WR instead of a QB, and the Bears pick up a RB? He also has Jamal Brown going before Alex Barron. At the same time(the thing that scares me) is alot of his other picks make sense! I like our take so hey I hope he is right

LionsInsider wrote: I am a little skeptical about your man's draft Pablo.... Like I said, be prepared to be This might not be his final mock, I've noticed these type of guys (Kiper included) to get closer to reality with each version. Actually, the Goose had the most accurate mock in 2003 and was third last year. He has had the most accurate TOP 100 the past three years running. (the number of top 100 prospects actually picked in the first 100 picks of Draft) - One of the very few he missed last year (and I believe the one who was the furthest off) was Kelly Butler. The Goose had him ranked #76 overall - I hope he was right. He also had the Lions picking Roy and KJ rated the top RB in the draft (and crushed the Cowgirls for trading their pick and not taking him in 2004). I can't find his results past 3 years ago but here is a MSN piece on Kiper that I suggest you read if you think this guy is full of crap. It is from 2001, so you can see that Goose has been nailing this stuff for a long time and how he does it. http://slate.msn.com/id/104163/Here is a couple of paragraphs Quote: Gosselin, on the other hand, is less interested in his own rankings than in discovering exactly what's going to happen on Draft Day. His day-of mock draft, printed annually in the News' sports page, has become legendary in sportswriting circles. Using Kiper's "first-round draft selections" criteria, last year Gosselin scored a superior 87 percent. On a pick-by-pick basis, he completely outclassed Kiper, accurately predicting more than half of the first round. And near the end of his mock draft, when Mel had switched to autopilot, Gosselin nailed four of the final eight picks.
How does Gosselin do it? Simple. He calls his sources around the league and asks them which player their team is going to pick. He realizes that calling oneself a "guru" in any sport necessitates understanding the event one purports to be a guru of. And understanding the NFL draft can be achieved only through relentless reporting. Despite all the 40 times, vertical leaps, and maximum bench presses Kiper can rattle off from memory, he just doesn't do enough reporting to get a grasp on which teams will pick which players.
I've been reading his stuff for 10 years. The first few years I had the same reactions you guys are having. After being proven wrong year after year, I've learned to pay attention.
April Fool's Joke - FUNNY. You only get one of those a year from me!

About Ware...
His stock has been high all along... ever since his senior bowl week.
It wouldn't be shocking at all for him to go top 15.

The reason that this mock is so to everybody is because Gosselin doesn't look at mock drafts and conform his thoughts to those of other "draftniks"...His picks come from the words of scouts and insiders who he talks to on a regular basis...That said, this mock will most certainly be changed a little before draft day, I mean come on, Minnesota taking two WRs
