Post Kellen Winslow
CLEVELAND (Sept. 20, 2004) -- Kellen Winslow Jr. broke his right leg during the Cleveland Browns' loss against Dallas and is expected to miss a major portion of his rookie season.

The Browns said the tight end has a broken fibula. Typically, the injury will sideline a player for 6-to-8 weeks. Browns coach Butch Davis was to talk about Winslow's injury during his afternoon news conference.

Winslow was hurt while trying to recover an onside kick late in the fourth quarter. As Winslow dived for the ball, his legs got caught up in a pile with two teammates.

After a long training camp holdout and often contentious negotiations with the Browns, Winslow signed a six-year contract.

Early reviews were overwhelmingly positive for the 6-foot-4, 250-pounder, who was expected to be a major contributor to the Browns' offense and special teams this season.

The No. 6 overall pick, Winslow had four catches for 39 yards in the season-opening victory against Baltimore. And although he had only one reception for 11 yards against Dallas, Winslow was open several times but quarterback Jeff Garcia either didn't see him or overthrew the former University of Miami star.

Will the real "Glass Bones" please stand up...

Can you imagine the uproar if the Lions took him and both he and Rogers went down...

Good thing Roy is performing as well as he is. Just makes the Browns look stupider and the Lions smarter for taking him and passing on Winslow.

The trade itself made the Lions look smart and the Browns look stupid - you're right, this just kinda clinches it...

Like if Winslow would have turned out to be a stud and a Pro-Bowler first season, then yeah, I think that we would have probably regretted it if Roy didn't have the impact he is having.

If Roy played like he did in the pre-season, and Kellen was spectacular like he was in college, some would regret it. But right now it was the best move in the draft.

Winslow is also set to lose about $5M in incentives with this injury because he probably won't be able to hit his % of snaps clause...

Way to go Polston bros!
