 Bears/Packers takeaways
Yeah, the game isn’t over yet, but I’ve decided to jot down some takeaways from this game and highlight things the lions will need to emphasize in order to beat both of these butthole teams.
Bears On defense - maintain the edge. Howard and Cohen can turn the edge quick and get big yards wide. - bring the heat. This is going to be nearly impossible since we have no pass rush, but they’re going to have to get creative with their looks. This is the only way to beat Trubisky. When he has time, he’s killing an average packers D. On offense - quick releases by Staff. That front seven is insane. The lions got destroyed by an inferior TB front seven and Chicago’s is way better. Quick to the line, quick releases. - run trap plays and misdirections. Can exploit the over-pursuit of the DEs provided the interior linemen can block the LBs like they’re supposed to.
Packers On defense - jam receivers at the line. When’s the last time we’ve seen the lions play a physical man D up front? Jam the receivers, allow for a pass rush, disrupt Rodgers. - find new coverage LBs. LOL. This is unfortunate, because Rodgers will destroy the chumps we’ve got at our weakest position. On Offense - pound the ball up the middle. Consistently run the ball. Straight up the gut. Follow the FB. 13-16 carries for Blount, most up the gut. - keep the pocket open. Receivers will get open, but they need more than 1 second.
