GAME SUMMARY:
Detroit headed into Arizona with a five game losing streak but facing a Cardinals team that had lost nine in a row after opening the season with four straight wins. Things were so bad with the Cardinals that they lost in Seattle last week 58-10. Things are worse for the Lions. Detroit left Arizona with an embarrassing
38-10 loss, their sixth straight, as the collapse continues. It was the most points scored by Arizona this season. Like most of the recent losses, the Lions Lions had more yards, first downs and held the ball longer. Unlike most of the recent losses, this one wasn't even close. Three Stafford interceptions were returned 293
yards, two for touchdowns and one setting up a touchdown giving the home team all the cushion they needed against the struggling Lions. The one bright spot was Calvin Johnson who went over 100 yards receiving for a seventh straight game tying an NFL record. Too bad the last six of those games have been losses. Calvin Johnson also
became the first player in NFL history with consecutive 1,600-yard receiving seasons.
There would be no scoring in the first quarter and the Lions would get on the board first as Mikel Leshoure would punch it in from one yard after Calvin Johnson again got it close. An Stafford interception and Stefan Logan muffed punt return would set up a pair of short Beanie Wells touchdown runs as Arizona would grab the lead
and never look back. Rashad Johnson would then jump in front of a Stafford pass and return it 53-yards as the Cardinals would lead 21-7 at the half.
The teams would trade field goals in the third quarter allowing the Cardinals to maintain their 14 point lead heading into the final quarter. Greg Toler would end the game in the fourth with just over five minutes left as he picked off Stafford and returned it 102 yards for the score. It was the longest interception return in Cardinals
history. Beanie Wells would add his third touchdown run of the game, this one from 31 yards out to complete the scoring at 38-10.
Detroit had over 300 total yards while the Cardinals didn't need over 200. The Lions have two tough home games to put this nightmare season behind them
